What We Do
Research and Development
Our diverse portfolio of services achieves measurable impact across a range of sectors. We offer specialized expertise in the following:
Research, Measurement
Supporting Intervention Effectiveness
We support governments, donors, and development partners with cutting-edge research that extends beyond standard monitoring and evaluation. Using OECD-DAC criteria, we conduct various evaluation designs, non-experimental; quasi-experimental; and experimental, and have extensive experience applying these approaches. Our sample work includes resilience measurements and analyses using the TANGO framework, ARIMA 2 models, and self-resilience indices. We also perform climate vulnerability assessments with standard vegetation indicators (e.g., restoration potential, normalized vegetation index, degradation trajectory, household wealth, and poverty measures). Evaluations for durable solution programs and poverty reduction projects, incorporating poverty graduation models, allow us to demonstrate impact and offer clients insights for improvement and future planning. Our research fosters collaborative learning, adaptation, and accountability, benchmarking outcomes against global standards.
Third-Party Monitoring
Supporting Factual Assurance
In Africa’s most remote areas, we offer third-party monitoring to oversee program implementation, reporting, and capacity-building. Our TPMs employ multiple approaches: mobile data collection to track project progress, social media analysis for assessing response transparency, community crowdsourcing for local conditions and urgent needs, data triangulation for situational analysis, focus groups and interviews to capture qualitative insights, health surveillance to track outcomes and disease outbreaks, and remote sensing and geospatial analysis for resource mapping. These remote management models have proven highly effective in emergency contexts.
Our cross-border clusters encompass three major regions: Mandera (Kenya and Somalia), Moyale (Kenya and Ethiopia), and Karamoja (Uganda and South Sudan).
